Where the roots of
the Villa run deep

A story in which art, wine and the Sicilian Risorgimento met to shape Villa Favorita.

Since 1860

An island, wine, the Amodeo family

The story of Villa Favorita begins in 1860 thanks to the entrepreneur and Garibaldian Salvatore Amodeo, who after the Garibaldian epic moved to Marsala, where he founded one of the most prestigious wine industries of the second half of the 19th century: Salvatore Amodeo & Figlio.

The wine industry

A mighty baglio

By his will, Salvatore Amodeo began the construction of an imposing baglio, with a large portal flanked by two turrets, which conceals inside a refined and secret architecture.

A large barrel hall, readapted according to the characteristics of the wineries built by the English; long warehouses with high roofs for ventilation and clay tile roofing, to keep the temperature uniform throughout the seasons.

An unspoilt landscape

The secret garden

Besides the rooms where the family lived, one cannot fail to mention the Villa's large secret garden: scenes of extraordinary beauty, where amid the dazzling green of the Ficus Benjamin are set the splashes of colour of the palms, the Washingtonia robusta, the bamboo and the strelitzias, with a curious prevalence of exotic plants over native ones.

The Risorgimento

Relations with Garibaldi

Salvatore Amodeo belonged to the same Lodge as General Garibaldi. Despite his passion and commitment to the wine industry, he kept up a dense correspondence with many Garibaldians from different Italian regions.

Villa Favorita today

The Valenti family

Later taken over by the entrepreneur and photographer Giuseppe Valenti, known as Pino, the property began the transformation process that turned the old Amodeo baglio into the hotel and events complex we know today.

Managed with great skill, the Valenti family gave it such momentum as to make it a leader in its field. Today Villa Favorita, with over 50 years of activity and an area of 30,000 sqm, is a point of reference for weddings and hospitality in the province of Trapani.
